I'm a freelance writer near Phoenix, AZ, sharing a neighborhood with scorpions and rattlesnakes. I wrote as an Opinion columnist for WA State's capital city newspaper THE OLYMPIAN 2007-2009 on the Board of Contributors, and as a staff writer for DISCOVER AMERICA 2009-2011, America's then largest internationally distributed American tourism magazine. My work has appeared in numerous regional magazines and newspapers, as well as business publications and ad campaigns. I earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Bay Path University in May of ‘23, and I’ve never felt more focused. Check out a narrative nonfiction sample above from a future work, TURNING OUT. While there, click on my YA Writing Sample, DON'T CALL ME FATAL, and have a look at clips of my printed work. We have five kids. Fiiiiiive, all grown up; we can laugh about the chaos now. I dodge rattlers on walks, night swim in summer’s 94-degree pool water, scorpion-hunt with a blow torch, and chase AZ haboobs (aka dust storms). Matt Wellock is my soulmate, practicing Family Medicine at a nearby Banner Health Center. He loves draining abscesses and removing toenails. Ew.
